About Me

East Texas

I’m a fifth generation East Texan, whose great-great-grandfather lived there when Texas was a republic and Davy Crockett and Sam Houston hung out at the local cantina swapping tales and plotting strategy. I loved growing up among the wooded, rolling hills, and I even got my BS and MEd degrees from Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, the oldest town in Texas.

Later I moved to Houston, continued my studies, and became Janece O. Hudson, EdD, when I received my doctorate in counseling. Because of my growing interest in dreams, during my doctoral training I studied “Psychophysiology of Sleep Research” and conducted research on laboratory dreams at Baylor University School of Medicine’s sleep lab; did independent study and research with a clinical psychologist who specialized in dreams; presented a variety of studies and papers on dreams as well as publishing academic articles; and wrote my dissertation on dreams. I’ve taught a graduate level course on dreams and imagery as well as a number of non-credit courses and seminars.

Besides being a certified hypnotherapist and a former licensed psychologist, I was a college psychology teacher for twelve years before leaving the profession to become a full time writer and speaker. Aside from my academic work, I’ve been studying dreams and lecturing in a variety of settings for over thirty years. For many of those earlier years I was under the mentorship of the late Elsie Sechrist, author of Dreams Your Magic Mirror, international lecturer, and expert on the Edgar Cayce readings.

Austin Bat Watching at Dusk

These days my family lives in Austin, Texas, a terrific place with no tall pines but with breathtaking limestone hills, gnarled oaks, and Texas mountain laurels with purple spring blossoms that smell like grape punch. Bluebonnets and an abundance of other wildflowers line the highways in the spring, and in good years, they turn fields into carpets of blue or orange, pink or yellow. Austin is a laid back place that prides itself on its live music venues as well as the thousands of bats that live under the bridge that spans Lady Bird Lake, which divides the town into north and south.

I’ve always wanted to write a book about dreams, and with Into Your Dreams, my desire has become a reality. I think working with ones dreams is critically important, and I hope my book and this site will help you work with yours. I often do seminars and shorter talks on dreams, creative imagery, and other related subjects. Check my schedule for appearances or contact me if you’re interested in having me speak to your group.

Besides being Dr. Janece O. Hudson, I have an alter-ego who writes fiction. Jan Hudson is an award-winning author of over thirty romantic comedy and romantic suspense novels. I’m a member of several writing organizations as well as the International Association for the Study of Dreams.genius камераноутбукпродвижение сайта способыpsychologyкакие блюда можно приготовить с помощью блендерасоздание сайтов ростов
